WELCOME ADDRESS
Dear Colleagues,
it is a great pleasure to have the opportunity to organize a WFNS Education Course in collaboration with the Southeast Europe Neurosurgical Society (SeENS) in Cluj-Napoca on June 1-2, 2018.
This educational activity is aimed at sharing experiences among experienced neurosurgeons from different continents and promoting knowledge with our junior neurosurgeons.
We are very grateful to the WFNS Education Committee members and SeENS faculty who have made themselves available to participate in this activity. We encourage you to take full advantage of this outstanding scientific opportunity!
Professor Isabelle M. Germano,

Dear colleagues and friends,
The Southeast Europe Neurosurgical Society has the privilege to organize a WFNS Education Course in Cluj-Napoca, Romania on June 1-2, 2018.
SENS primary activity is to promote educational neurosurgical activities through regular meetings and practical trainings, thus providing an excellent opportunity for all fellow neurosurgeons to share their expertise. Leaning upon the strong foundations of tradition and experience and following contemporary professional accomplishments, trends and innovations, we strive for neurosurgery and neuroscience without frontiers and aim at building bridges of knowledge and understanding across disciplines, institutions, individuals and generations.
We are greatly honored to receive full support from the WFNS Education Committee and expert faculty members from different part of the world that accepted to take part in the scientific program of the Course.
We invite you to join us in Cluj-Napoca, convinced that our gathering will provide many memorable scientific and social moments.
Prof. Dr Lukas Rasulic,
SeENS President
Dear colleagues and friends,
With this course, we proudly continue the tradition of organizing WFNS courses in the East European countries which began in 2014 in Cluj-Napoca (Romania). Previous editions were also organized in Dubrovnik (Croatia) in 2015, in Varna (Bulgaria) in 2016 and in Ohrid (Macedonia) in 2017.
This year the course returns to Cluj-Napoca in a two-day new format organized in conjunction with SeENS. The first day, June 1, is the WFNS day with the main topic being “Updates in Neurosurgery” and the second day, June 2, is the SeENS day dedicated to “Controversial Issues in Neurosurgery”. With these topics, we hope to arouse your interest and look forward to welcoming you to Cluj-Napoca!
Professor Florian Ioan Ștefan,
M.D., Ph.D.
VENUE
The Simulation and Practical Skills Center at the “Iuliu Hatieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy offers great learning opportunities and training in all levels of medical practice for most fields. The overriding aim of the Centre is to improve safety for both the patient and the medical act.
The newly developed simulation-based education and medical practice allow for the correct clinical skills and behaviors to be achieved in an organized structure, under competent instructor supervision, on a well established schedule and, which is very important, bearing no risks for the patient.
Progressive exposure of the beneficiaries (undergraduate and postgraduate medical professionals) to various challenging aspects of the medical profession, similar to real-life situations, will contribute to reducing errors and increasing the quality of the medical act.
Complex, interdisciplinary scenarios allow team training and crisis management.
